My name is Alex, and I was born and raised in Maryvale, West Phoenix. I started my first sport in Jr. high by joining the wrestling team at Frank Borman Jr. high. Then I continued to wrestle for Maryvale high school and in the US Navy for the S.O.P.A.C. wresting team. When I got out of the Navy is when I started getting into MMA in 2007-2008 with my best friend Jose Cortez, who also wrestled with me in Jr high and high school. I had a short career with 5 wins and 0 losses. Then I got in a car accident in 2009 and haven’t fought since. Now, after coaching for so long I want to step back into the cage and make another run for it. 

I am fighting now because I love it. I train every day at Pro Edge MMA in Phoenix, AZ because I truly love the challenge training and fighting give me. When you have another person standing across from you, same weight, and almost same height, it’s a battle of will. Who will impose their will more during the fight? Win, lose or draw, the feeling I get after can’t be explained with words. It’s a true test of character and I love that.
